The Story of Prophet David (Dawood)
God Almighty chose His Prophet David (Dawood) and bestowed upon him one of the four celestial books, the Zaboor (Psalms), which he used to glorify and praise God.
God also blessed David with a beautiful and pure voice. With this enchanting voice, he praised God, and the creatures, as well as the mountains around him, joined in his worship.
David and Goliath
Prophet David (Dawood) went out with the army of King Saul (Talut) to confront King Goliath (Jaloot), who had become a tyrant on earth, oppressing and terrifying people with his might. In a remarkable twist of fate, David defeated Goliath with a stone, resulting in a great victory for the Children of Israel, led by Saul, against Goliath and his mighty army—all by the grace of God.
As the years passed, David grew older and was favored by God with the kingship over the Children of Israel. Despite his prophetic status, he worked diligently, earning his living honestly. David was known for saying that he would only eat from the work of his own hands, often crafting iron armor, which not only provided for him but also protected soldiers from spears, arrows, and swords.
The Qualities of David
God endowed David with kingship, wisdom, and strength. He possessed everything necessary to be a powerful king. He was granted profound wisdom, a sharp intellect, and clear understanding. Additionally, David was eloquent in speech, persuasive in discourse, and strong in rhetoric.
A Conversation Among the Israelites
During this time, a conversation took place between the Israelites and the prophet who was sent after Moses (Musa). The Israelites requested this prophet to ask God to appoint a king for them, someone they could follow into battle to fight against the injustices they faced.
The prophet complied but questioned them, asking: “What if fighting is decreed upon you? Will you truly fight for God and uphold your covenant with Him, or will you falter and flee, breaking your promise?”
Despite the weight of his words, the Israelites insisted they would honor their commitment and fight in God’s cause. The prophet prayed to God, and in response, God appointed Saul as their king. However, as was often the case with the Israelites throughout history, they struggled to accept Saul as their ruler.
